The Constitution establishes a federal democratic republic form of government.


In a democracy the power is in the hands of the people. In the Republic, power is in the hands of individual citizens. In a democratic system, laws are made by the majority. In the Republic system, laws are made by the elected representatives of the people. Rightwingers who claim to be the "power" always want to embrace a system where they are NOT the ones calling any shots (Democracy). The Constitution establishes a federal democratic republic form of government. That is, we have an indivisible union of 50 sovereign States. It is a democracy because people govern themselves. It is representative because people choose elected officials by free and secret ballot.. Democracy and Republic are not mutually exclusive in our current form of government regardless of what the USA might have been found as.The Constitution establishes a federal democratic republic form of government.
