MDOC Lawsuit, Dunkin Donuts, & Petal Police Department


Hinds County owes $9.4 million on its Joint State-County Work Center, leaving county officials to discuss legal action against the Mississippi Department of Corrections over the agency's plans to move state inmates from Joint State-County Work Programs. MDOC Commissioner Marshall Fisher has announced plans to remove state inmates from the Joint State-County Work Programs to state-owned community work centers. Third and fourth graders gathered Tuesday afternoon at the Moselle Elementary football field to honor members of the Petal Police Department. Students presented officers with handmade thank you cards showing their appreciation for the department. One student remarked, “I just want to thank you for keeping us safe, and we appreciate all of you police officers.” --Ryan Moore WDAM
