Preachers Of LA to TLC: You have a responsibility to stand with the family that you exploited
- “You have a responsibility to stand with the family that you exploited,”
gospel singer Haddon said in reference to the relationship between TLC
and the Duggars, who star on the popular family program, “19 Kids and
Counting.”
“You’ve given them that platform, so you can’t be that
quick to walk away from them,” Haddon continued. “I don’t agree with
that. That’s not cool, and that’s not loyal.”
“It is reality. You want to not only cover the flaws
and the mistakes, you also want to cover the road to redemption,”
Chaney, pastor of Antioch Church of Long Beach, chimed in.
According to a police report that has gone viral, the
oldest Duggar son, Josh, molested at least five girls living inside the
family home. Sources say the molestations took place when Josh was as
young as 14 years old. Many are debating whether or not Josh faced
proper discipline for his actions and whether his family’s television
show should be cancelled as a result of the offenses.
“For me, when it all broke, it saddened me for
everybody. Mostly, for the people that were the victims in the
situation,” Pastor Chancey continued. “I don’t want to defend the
situation at all.”
“Like Pastor Jay mentioned, it’s obviously wrong … he
admitted it was wrong,” Pastor Haizlip said. “We definitely don’t want
to be the group of people that send the message, if you have a past or
if you’ve made mistakes in your past, particularly in your early teens,
that you’re labeled or stigmatized for the rest of your life.”
