Bishop EW Jackson calls on Christians to Fill their Churches this weekend & Beef Up Security

PRESS ADVISORY

BISHOP E.W. JACKSON CALLS ON CHRISTIANS TO FILL THEIR CHURCHES THIS WEEKEND AND BEEF UP SECURITY IN LIGHT OF CHARLESTON ATTACK ON EMANUEL AME CHURCH

Norfolk, VA. Bishop E.W. Jackson, National President of MINISTERS TAKING A STAND, will hold an emergency conference call today with Pastors across the country to discuss the Charleston shooting and the implications for security in the church community. In a FOX interview on Thursday, the Bishop called for churches to defend themselves against violent attacks. "I am not suggesting turning churches into armed camps," he said, "but Christian leaders must take seriously our responsibility to defend innocent men, women and children. It is clear that the shooter is racist, but he also chose to attack a church. Evil people and mentally ill people are looking for easy victims. Even though religious hatred may not be their primary motive, they can feel safe attacking a church because that is a place where you are not likely to meet resistance."

The Bishop's approach is in direct contradiction to President Obama's call for more gun control. Says Bishop Jackson, "The President and other gun control advocates should consider the consequences of policies which guarantee that only the criminal will have a gun. Law abiding citizens are finding it increasingly difficult to get a firearm to defend themselves and their families. They should be able to exercise their God-given right of self-defense protected by the Second Amendment."

Jackson leads a network of ministers spanning twenty states, and will hold a conference call with them today. He is calling for Christians to fill their churches on Sunday to show that no act of terror will stop them from going to church and worshipping God.

E.W. Jackson is Bishop of THE CALLED Church, a Marine Corps Veteran, 2013 Republican Nominee for Lt. Governor of Virginia, President of STAND [www.standamerica.us] and Senior Fellow for Family Research Council.
