Jackson, Mississippi Couldn't Stop Crime; So They Shut Down a Business

So, may not be a good idea for crime to happen at your business if you live in Hinds County, Mississippi. If police can't stop the crime, they may opt to just shut your business down instead..

  • Hinds County's DA has been successful in his effort to shut down the Express Fuel Mart in Jackson. Just over a week ago a Jackson police officer was injured in a shooting there. DA Robert Schuler Smith filed a petition for a temporary restraining order and preliminary injunction with the Chancery Court. Smith says the business meets the definition of a "nuisance" by interfering with the public's health and safety, and creating long-lasting negative effects. [WLBT]
